David Cunningham
Men’s Identity & Spiritual Clarity Coach
If you’re a man who feels disconnected, weighed down by responsibility, or unsure of who you’re becoming, you’re not alone.
Most of the men I work with look like they have it together from the outside, but inside, they feel stuck or off course. They’ve carried pressure and stress for years in silence, checking all the boxes while wondering why it still feels so heavy.
That’s where I come in.
I’m an ICF-trained men’s coach with PCC-level competency, 25+ years of recovery and inner work, and decades of mentoring men in leadership, identity, and spiritual clarity.
My coaching is grounded, practical, and focused on truth. I walk with you shoulder to shoulder. No pressure. No performance. Just the real work of becoming the man you were meant to be.
“I see myself as capable instead of a helpless victim of circumstances.”

Why I Chose to Help Men Heal & Come Home to Themselves
My work didn’t begin in a classroom. It began with my own story.
I was mentoring and guiding others long before I had formal training. Later, I earned my MFA and spent two decades as a college professor, helping young adults find their voice and direction.
But the biggest shifts in my life didn’t come from titles or training. They came through recovery, fatherhood, divorce, rebuilding, and the long process of learning how to lead from truth instead of pressure.
As a father of five, I’ve lived the tension of providing while staying emotionally present. I’ve walked through burnout, spiritual dryness, identity loss, and the slow work of rebuilding from the inside out.
That’s the foundation of how I coach today: grounded, real, and shaped by lived experience. It’s not theory. It’s what I’ve lived.
“Having someone who really listens and helps you identify your actual needs—not just your perceived ones—is priceless.”

Who I Help Through Men’s Identity and Spiritual Coaching
Over the years, I’ve discovered that my best work is with men who are ready for something deeper. It’s the men who feel the quiet gap between who they are and who they know they could be.
Whether you’re carrying pressure in silence, feeling disconnected from your faith, or just trying to figure out what’s next, we start where you are.
This is men’s identity coaching: real conversations, honest reflection, and steady support to help you get clear on who you are and how you want to lead your life.
Men Navigating Identity, Pressure, and Inner Conflict
The men I coach often share similar struggles:
- Men who look strong on the outside but feel lost or disconnected internally. They’ve held it together for years but are starting to feel the cracks beneath the surface.
- Husbands and fathers carrying the weight of responsibility in silence. They’ve been strong for everyone else, but privately wonder how much longer they can keep it up.
- Young men searching for identity, direction, and a purpose bigger than performance. This work often begins by exploring identity; learning who you are apart from who you’ve been told to be.
- Men of faith who feel spiritually dry, frustrated, or unsure what they believe. We explore spiritual clarity in a way that honors your journey and integrates faith without pressure.
- High performers who’ve achieved success but still feel empty or restless. They’ve checked the boxes but are still asking, “Is this all there is?”
- Men struggling with addiction, numbing behaviors, or patterns that feel out of control. If your story includes recovery or coping strategies that no longer serve you, we create space for honesty, healing, and new tools.
- Men who want to handle emotions with more clarity instead of avoiding or suppressing them. Together, we develop tools to manage stress, regulate emotions, and move from reaction to grounded response.
- Any man who senses there’s more to him, but can’t access it on his own. If there’s a voice inside you saying “there has to be more,” this work is for you.
My coaching is relational, grounded, and deeply personal. I meet you exactly where you are, and walk with you toward clarity, strength, and truth.
What Sets My Men’s Coaching Approach Apart
Coaching men is not about giving advice. It’s about presence, honesty, and transformation.
What sets my approach apart is a rare blend of:
- Lived wisdom, not just theory
- 25+ years of recovery and spiritual inner work
- A grounded, truth-centered approach to identity formation
- A coaching style built on presence, clarity, and direct yet compassionate challenge
- Evidence-based somatic practices and emotional regulation tools
- Faith-integration without pressure, dogma, or preaching
I don’t stay on the surface, and I won’t let you stay there either.
If I believe I can help, I’ll give you my all. If I’m not the right fit, I’ll tell you the truth because you deserve the right guide for your journey.
What to Expect from Men’s Identity Coaching
Men don’t need more judgment or performance. They need a space to breathe, and someone who can help them see clearly again.
When you work with me, you can expect:
- A steady, judgment-free space where you can speak honestly and finally exhale
Spiritually grounded insight and lived wisdom, not theory, but truth earned through experience
- Honest reflection and compassionate challenge to help you see what you’ve been avoiding
- Practical tools and somatic practices that create real, embodied change
- Support to reconnect with your inner authority, strength, and spiritual center
I won’t tell you how to live your life.
But I will ask the questions that reveal what’s real, and walk with you as you become the man you already know you can be.
“I’m calmer, clearer, and finally taking action instead of avoiding what matters.”

Who I’m Not a Fit For
Coaching requires alignment, willingness, and honesty. I may not be the right coach for you if:
- You want someone else to fix your life without you changing anything
- You’re unwilling to be honest, vulnerable, or look beneath the surface
- You want validation instead of transformation
- You’re seeking clinical assessments or legal advice
- You need specialized treatment for active addiction, eating disorders, or unmanaged mental health crises
Working with me is collaborative. I’ll sit with you, walk with you, and challenge you, but transformation requires your full presence and commitment.
What Transformation Feels Like
Men don’t come to this work for surface-level fixes. They come because something inside them knows there’s more: more peace, more strength, more truth, more purpose.
The coaching I offer is grounded, relational, and shaped by your lived experience. Whether you’re feeling emotionally stuck, spiritually dry, or overwhelmed by responsibility, we start exactly where you are, and move toward who you were created to be.
Here’s what men often experience through this work:
- A steady, grounded confidence that no longer depends on performance or approval. You become anchored in who you are, not just what you do.
- Emotional resilience and regulation that actually holds under pressure. Many men arrive feeling reactive or shut down. Over time, they gain tools to respond from clarity and calm.
- A renewed sense of spiritual connection. Whether faith is central or complicated, we create space for honest, pressure-free reconnection.
- Relief from internal tension, shame, or long-held stress. Some men bring stories of addiction, burnout, or coping behaviors they no longer want to carry alone.
- More honest, present relationships with spouses, children, and self. You show up in a way that feels aligned, connected, and true.
- Direction, energy, and joy in everyday life. You stop living from survival mode and start leading from identity.
This isn’t about becoming someone new. It’s about coming home to the man you’ve always known you could be.
